QAYG = need a book recommendation for specific method
There is a decent tutorial for QAYG in Tutorials section, where blocks are attached using strips and the batting is not included in the seam allowance. It's the method I am leaning towards and I plan to make a large quilt hopefully using this method. I am looking for a book that illustrates this technique, any recommendations?

Try contacting the one who posted the tute...perhaps there is a book to be recommended that way.....

This book illustrates 4 different QAYG methods including by block with sashing. Pretty cheap in the used section

This lady has a great tutorial. Somewhere I saw a you tube on her technique that I will try to find for you.

Marti Michell has an excellent book called Machine Quilting in Sections. She explains several different methods and explains why you would choose each for a specific quilt.

Thanks for the recommendations and especially adding the link to the quilting in sections w/o sashing. I hadn't realized there was another thread on this topic until after I posted last night. I find the QAYG in sections without sashing quite interesting. There was a comment about using fusible batting and when pressing essentially taking the loft out of it. I did this once when making a purse and learned from the mistake. I have both books listed above on my Amazon wish list. I think its time to check the library first.
Has anyone tried these different methods? |
