Moda black fabrics
I need more black. what is the difference in Moda super black, soft finish and black??? those were at fabric .com. i've had my black so long I don't remember what it was or where i got it.

I'm not sure about the Moda, but I've used Kona black and it's really dark and didn't bleed in my quilt.

I'm with doggramma, I prefer the Kona Black. It's just very slightly heavier (I use snow for my appliqué si it's great fabric). Mode des make very nice solid colors, but (IMHO) you will be very happy with the Kona - just make sure it is authentic Robert Kaufman Kona.

Kona. That is the fabric I meant. duh. thanks, now i am to look that one up. not moda!

Moda Super Black is a more rich black with no gray overtones. It also remains black wash after wash. It does not develop fade lines where it has been folded like in a binding. I use super black whenever I need black for a pattern.

I don't like Kona solids due to their stiffness. I prefer Moda solids. Craftsy's "Boundless" line of solids is also pretty nice.
|
I like the Kona black. When I need to buy it I always buy 5 or 10 yards because black is hard to match. Black is not always black and does not mix well with other black. I do pre-wash it;however, I have never had it bleed.

Michael Miller solid black is very black.
The pieces I have had (four or five of them) have shrunk over two inches in width. |
I always go with Kona solids. They have never let me down.
