Favorite Man Pattern
What is your favorite pattern to use for a man or teenage boy?
|
I don't have a favorite pattern but saw these graduation quilts today posted by mapleie & thought they would work up great in "man" colors/fabrics. You could go with camo fabric or use a special hobby fabric for the focal fabric...golf, hunting, fishing, camping, etc.

Unless it was a very flowery applique quilt, I think any pattern would be 'manly' predicated on the type/color fabrics you use. Just as I find virtually any pattern 'patriotic' or 'girly' predicated on the colors used.

My favorite pattern to make for boys is Warm Wishes. For a man I would use a fabric themed with the persons interests or hobby as the large squares.

If you have a strong focus fabric to use in the quilt, I like the BQ pattern by Maple Island Quilts. Use the focus fabric in the large squares and coordinating "manly" colors for the other two elements of the design.

I let the menfolk (and the ladies too) pick the fabric they like and I go from there and pick a pattern that will work nicely with their choice. I tend to like more simple patterns anyhow so it works

D9P, sometimes if it is a directional focus fabric, I'll cut the sizes of the D9P and make all the large squares the same direction. A little more work but it works.

I make graduation Quilts for all my nieces and nephews. I too thought those graduation Quilts would work up nicely. I let the kids choose the colors and I pick the pattern.o

I have always loved Boxed Squares. If you use rich deep colors, it can be very masculine.
