Can someone convince me to buy an Instant Pot?
Just before Christmas, we purchased a 6 qt. electric pressure cooker. Since then, I have regretted not having bought an Instant Pot instead. Can someone please tell me what advantages the IP might have over what we have? I guess I'm trying to justify buying one to join all the fun. Many thanks!

I have two Instant Pots. From what I understand from the Facebook page "Instant Pot Communuty" one advantage is the stainless steel inner pot. It really turns out to be nonstick if you brown your meal first and deglaze which you have to do anyway. I can't speak to anything else. I love mine. There are other threads relating to electric pressure cookers. Some folks are sticking with stovetop. Have you used yours and do you like it?

The only thing we have made is collard greens and they are fabulous! We can afford to buy an IP but don't know who I'd pass the other to as both grown daughters already have IPs.

You can have two. One for rice and one for something else. :o

I have the Gowise pressure cooker with the stainless inner pot. If your pressure cooker doesn't have the stainless pot, you can get one on Amazon. I did that with my cuisanart pressure cooker. Cheaper than buying another pot. All of the cookers are made in China and are very similar in their cooking abilities.

We love our Instant Pot for making yogurt, haven't used it for anything else yet.

Not me. I go the opposite way, never cared for a pressure cooker, except for canning. I enjoy cooking too much. Can't so much enjoy the aroma, taste here and there, and perhaps adding a spice or condiment to improve. Sealed pots take away my fun.
