What fabric to get in Japan?

My DH will be in Japan (Kyoto area) for about two weeks and is planning to buy me fabric and treasures while he's there. Do any of you know any really interesting places to shop? Or awesome places for him to visit while he's there? Thanks!

Are you open to silks and brocades? I would put in a request he visit a Kimono maker and ask for scraps and remnants. The Japanese often use these in their quilts which are so absolutely beautiful and so innovative. I have seen an exhibit of Japanese quilts and the way they mix fabrics is quite eclectic but oh so effective. They often mix in bits and pieces from Kimono, Obi scarves, Japanese Taupes and cottons.

Kyoto is a big city with a very active and thriving Geisha district so many Kimono makers.

Here is a fabulous blog I just found:

There is a lot of wonderful cotton, often used to wrap presents. I got quite a lot while there. Each area also usually does its own panel to commemorate the area. We covered a lot of the country so I cannot point to a specific shop but Kyoto has wonderful shopping areas.

I found this wonderful site to help you: http://www.cashmerette.com/2015/05/k...ic-stores.html

After reading it, I just have to return to Kyoto without a group (or husband) so I can visit all of these stores at my own speed.
