Has Anyone used "Crinkle Cotton"?
 

I am looking at some beautiful batiks on line that lists them as "crinkle cotton". Unfortunately I can't order samples. So, I am looking for help and would like to know How they would work in a quilt. If you have used them would you please let me know if they are puckery like sear sucker or if they are difficult to work with or if you have The colors are perfect but "crinkle" is keeping me from ordering. Thank you!

I was recently checking Pinterest for quick and easy kids quilt patterns when I saw a reference to "crinkle cotton" with (I think) flannel in making receiving blankets. Your post piqued my interest so I investigated. I am quite sure NOT at all the same as batiks because my handy, dandy Fabric Savvy essential guide for every sewer by Sandra Betzina (love this book) indicates it is suitable for medium width pull-on pants and unstructured shirts, i.e. clothes good for traveling in. Hope this helps. Perhaps the "batik" part is just the coloration of the fabric? And yes, crinkle cotton is described as being crinkled through a heat setting process.

Would this crinkle cotton be a new term for seersucker? Curious.

That's what I was wondering too. But looking at crinkle cotton on fabric.com, it looks like something else. They say it's perfect for quilting and apparel. https://www.fabric.com/buy/0456365/i...oll-blue-green They also have a crinkle gauze, which seems to be very thin with a stretch in one direction, so that would not be good for most quilting.

Thanks everyone. Patches, the "crinkled though a heat setting process" convinced me it's puckered somehow. Ube, I think you are right it might be a new term for seersucker. Dunster, fabric.com is where I found the fabric. I was looking at 0456375 and 0456373. I am making a wedding quilt for my grandson and future granddaughter-in-law. They like stars and geometric designs. Well, I have put those fabrics to rest (sob sob) even though they are the right colors and great design. Thank you all for your input.
