I have a new toy: Viking Husqvarna Mega Quilter
2 Attachment(s)
I found a deal I couldn't pass up on a Viking Husqvarna Mega Quilter (with frame). I've been using a tiny Brother machine, but the throat is so small that I can't make anything much larger than a baby quilt. I also recently bought a '56 singer 301a to use for quilting, since it has a much larger throat along with a walking foot attachment. However, when I saw the mega quilter with the frame, I just couldn't pass it up.
I need to finish cleaning out my old spare room and finish the conversion to a sewing room before I can set up the frame, but I'm excited :) I was provided with the manuals, printed info from online, and have found several youtube videos, so should have lots of good info. When they broke down the frame, they labeled everything really well, so that will help when it comes time to reassemble. I have a queen size quilt I'm working on for Christmas, and this makes it much less daunting to complete on time. I'll need to practice on a few charity quilts first though :)
The lady I bought it from is a serious quilter, and recently upgraded to a long arm. She had the frame all broke down, but left the machine up for me to play with before I bought it.
The timing was perfect. I just started quilting a year ago, and have done enough that I know I want to make this a lifetime hobby. Too early and I wouldn't have wanted to buy such a large setup, too much longer and I might have spent some of my budget on another good machine, but without the frame.
