Ideas needed
 

[ATTACH=CONFIG]577826[/ATTACH]I have two of these and want to make a king size quilt. There are 41 x 2 1/2 inch Jelly roll shades 44 inches wide
I realise I will need fairly wide borders in order to complete the quilt top size.

I would like to devise a "quilt as you go" block arrangement to get the best use of all the fabric.

Any ideas of blocks that will do it?

I would start by checking for Missouri Star Quilt Co (MSQC) She has tons of YouTube videos/patterns and is known for using pre-cuts.

As far as quilt as you go, anything that has a sashing should be easy to make QAYG.

Thank you I love the look of this one but I don't want to spend hundreds of pounds to get the quilt top finished into a quilt so I was looking a to find a quilt as you go pattern.

You could do a log cabin QAYG.

I am working on a queen size jelly roll quit right now, that I have decided to do QAG in 12" finished squares. I cut the 12" inch squares of batting and backing and sew the jelly roll strips along the length oeach block. Do start in dole of each square so I do end up wth extra width to trim on the sides, but since it is for me, I am OK with that. Visually is appears even on the sides because I am only trimming a little. I am putting it together with a contrast sashing in a "rail fence " arrangement. I will post it when it is finished.

The patterns appear to be free but it looks like you have to add them to your cart to get them.

There are many free patterns and tutes on the web. I would recommend using pinterest or Google Images and search for jelly roll quilts. Many are block based so you could Quilt as you go or a "fun and done" type method.

However, I think you will need to add at least another Jelly Roll (perhaps a solid white or cream). 2 rolls only give you not quite 6 yards of fabric (less than two meters). The average king size quilt will take anywhere from 9 to 12 yards (3 to 4 meters) depending on pattern and no telling how much waste you will get using jellyrolls. And I am not sure that yardage estimate includes backing. I just did a quick search. I make mostly queen size quilts and, on average, I use 7+ yards just for the top.
