Quilt Pattern Zipper Bags
 

Anyone else have problems with their quilt pattern bags becoming brittle and disintegrating? I am thinking of getting replacement bags but want to avoid the newer type bags that break down. (My sewing area has lots of windows.) Do any of you have suggestions? Thank you!

Have you thought about getting a 3-ring binder with sheet protectors and putting them on a shelf?

i haven't had that issue. i keep mine on a bookshelf in a banker's box

This next month is a great time to shop around for notebooks, file folders, etc. All the back to school stuff is out and on sale.

I don't have that problem, but I keep patterns in cardboard magazine holders on a bookshelf. I'm not crazy about 3-ring notebooks as I find they get unwieldy on me, especially when there are differing amounts in them. I have also used plastic and metal magazine holders, but prefer the cardboard -- especially when I can find them in nice colors. You do have to be careful of quality with the cardboard ones; some are much better than others. My favorites I can't get any more, but they were solid, unfolded easily, and were a lovely blue color. The magazine holders protect the patterns from light, so in your situation I think I would just place patterns in new plastic storage bags.

I keep all my paper patterns (for clothing and quilts) in comic book boxes on a set of shelves I bought years ago at Target. I have started the last few years to keep a lot of my patterns on my computer (with a back up to different Passport external hard drives).

I do what ksdot417 does. I have a three shelf bookcase under my cutting table that houses all my patterns and books. My binders are labeled for store bought patterns or printed out patterns from the internet.
