I remember Wheel of Fortune from about 34 years ago. They were lucky to do five puzzles in a show. When a contestant won a round, they had to choose prizes from among 10 to 20 lined up in the corner. They would choose a blender for $20, a sheet set for $100, a bowling bowling ball for $50, etc. until they had used up the amount they had won in that round. The three top winners from Monday through Thursday came back on Friday to compete again.

Back in the early 70's I rented a two bedroom home for $40 a month. Nice little house on a pretty street. The new apartment building with all then new top of the line appliances and shag carpet was $150 a month! Outrageous!

I remember an article about the old game show Truth or Consequences. One of the "gag" prizes for a card match was a brick wall. The contestant who won it and the game was ecstatic - and the show had to build a brick wall around his property as they had not put any limits or conditions with the prize. After that the producers were very careful on what the prizes were, especially the gag prizes. I also laugh when I see a house with a brick wall and wonder if that was his house.

yes. i was just talking to my financial advisor and told him my old house in Colorado sold again after being remodeled. $380,000. 00! wow. good price but then he said Boulder has houses selling for $1.5 million. Goodness. I"m getting old. I think that is terrible! out pricing ourselves. we should have been happy with less.

Have you noticed the people on the old fame shows? They look like ordinary folks not like the modern shows where they look like the' ve had a makeup artist, hair dresser and fashion consultant.

Remember the huge ceramic animals they had for prizes on Wheel of Fortune?

And don't forget the year's supply of Rice a Roni "the San Francisco treat"

we watch family feude and match game. $150 was a lot back then. Now, it could barely pay to fly out there to win $150
