Anyone having a manual for this machine?

I just purchased this machine at a yard sale this weekend. Sadly, no instruction manual. Does anyone know where to find one? Thanks!

I found one in German, but it was pay for. Further down on this page there is a picture series of this model, including a couple on the threading of this model. I couldn't direct link to the pictures for some reason. I have a 283F, the bobbin case system looks the same. If you have the stitch cams you are lucky, double cams and neat stretchy stithches.

Thank you Mickey2! The machine came with what looks like a complete case of cams. She is covered in nicotine and gunk, but I fell in love with her lines and fab color and couldn't resist a $5 price tag. Thank you again for your help!

It is a gem of a machine, I am a bit envious of your bargain find ;- )

The so called nicotine staining is usually traces of sewing machine oil darkened with age, and it usually comes of with gentle cleaning, maybe a cloth wringed up is soapy water. My Elna Supermatic had a lot of this staining, I polished it with a car polish (liquid type), and all traces of grime and staining went completely.

My green Phoenix is a bit worn, but wasn't as grimy on the outside, just very sticky internally and it took a bit more time to make it shift smoothly again. For that price this a 388F is well worth the time and effort. The tricky bit is replacement of gears and parts if needed, everything is possible, but it can take time to find or have them made. If we want (stretchy stitches / extra fancy stitch patterns) we usually have to accept a few plastic gears; my favorite zigzagger has a couple of plastic gears (an old Bernina 730).

I took another look last night. You are right about the stains. They appear to be only on the front, probably because she was in her case face down. I removed the top cover and everything looks good. I need to clean, oil and test for shorts before I plug her in.
