Is your background color always white?
Today someone posted a picture of an antique quilt that her great grandmother made. The background was pink and so pretty! Myself, I always use Kona Snow for backgrounds and now I'm wondering why?
With so many beautiful colors out there why always stick with white, cream, snow? Is this a generation thing? I'm going to start looking for use able colors for my quilts. |
I use gray and black many times (I use white or cream too). Not against any other complementary color as a background.

I did this one with screaming yellow background for fun. I do tend to use white, cream grey or black the most though.

I use other colors and patterns too.

I tend to use white or cream a lot also. I think it's because I like the blocks to stand out. But other colors could work just as well. I need to broaden my horizons!

Almost never! I use black as my background the most, I like how it sets off the colors. I have too many pets for white anything to be a good idea anyway, so I don't really think to use it all that often. I really only ever use whites or pastels in quilts I'm giving away!

I've seen antique quilts with red, yellow or orange backgrounds. they actually look great. That put me on an orange bend. I think I'm over it now. I like black but have three cats so don't often use it.

On my bucket list is a double wedding ring with pink background. I grew up with one and slept under it as a child. I tend to go for white for contrast but really, it isn't always necessary.

i tend to mix it up. but i have to say that the newer modern quilts use white a lot... but they also use solids for their colors a lot. they look so 'clean' to me.

I use a natural muslin for most but use other colors too.
