Looking for this pattern
 

This is a variation of a feathered star-but it appears to have asymmetrical feathers. Or am I missing something?!
I emailed the blogger, but her blog has not been active for awhile. I would love to purchase this pattern.

I think most feathered stars have different numbers of points on the two sides of the triangles, although I'm not sure. I found this pattern that looks the same as yours, just in different colours: http://ucquilts.com/bomjune2014.htm

Thank you Jennifer! I have been googling for hours! Your site never came up in my searches. I have made a few different feathered stars, but they have had the same number feathers on all sides. Many many thanks!

Jennifer’s link is a 24” star....I found a 12” paper pieced pattern if anyone is interested. Apparently this version of a feathered sta is called Star of Chamblie.

I used your link to make this block.....its a great tut! But it is different than the block in my original link. Give it a try-starch your fabric first and sew slowly...it was not nearly as daunting as I imagined! :)

Wow! I've never paid much attention to feathered stars before (looked too complicated for me). I did some Googling this morning, and you're right - they do nearly always have equal numbers of points on all sides! This has absolutely blown me away! :o

Once I discovered this, I had to figure out the difference. Basically, if the star is based off a square centre with HST's for the points, they will have different numbers of spikies. If the centre is an octagon, they will have the same number of spikies. Thanks for helping me learn something today!

That is a pretty in-depth tutorial! I've always admired the feathered stars - I'm tempted to give it a go myself now! After I've finished all or my ufo's perhaps...

Haha.....but.....in the feathered star that I made with an octogon in the center ( I posted the pic above)-the octogon is just a square with snowballed corners. Hmmmm....As I research FS’s, it seems that there are many variations. I have some books by Marsha McCloskey on order from our library. I am in love with these blocks! I made a paper pieced FS using this free tutorial...

Its a great tut, and I have since purchased more of her patterns. She is just starting a quilt along with feathered stars.
