Quilts magazines disappearing off shelves?

Finally got out in the snow to visit Fleet Farm and Walmart for some shopping. At Fleet Farm, there were only two quilt magazines on the shelves; they used to have at least half a dozen. At Walmart, there were no quilt magazines at all, and they also used to carry at least half a dozen.

Has anyone else noticed quilt magazines becoming more scarce?

No, I never buy them.

In my SW Washington area at Aberdeen, Walmart is putting them on a pillar in the fabric dept, right at the separation with pencils, tablets, etc. Thriftway grocery once carried a good selection, but in the past two weeks, the magazine shelves are empty, but a few are on small racks near the checkouts. The magazines they kept are not any that I would buy.

I find there is a smaller selection of all types of magazines. I rarely purchase one anymore because there is so much information available on-line for free.

Yes, I too have noticed the lessening of selection at the stops I make. but, I can understand why - from my perspective, anyway. Way too much advertising in them, price has gone way up! Offerings in them are just rehashed, some with absolutely ugly ( imho)fabric choices--seems they are pushing fabric brands more than quilt designs. Then they seal the mag in a plastic bag, so you cannot browse inside to see what's in it! I have noticed an upswing in other crafty things and a decline in quilting things, but that's just in my area maybe......

They want everyone to move to subscription. Central shipping

I buy all my magazines on Zinio. That way they appear every month on my tablet or computer without me having to go looking and it's a lot cheaper.

I haven't bought a magazine in a long time. Too many ads and not enough substance for me. So I haven't noticed the lack of them. I find so much more on the internet.

I've noticed over the last couple of years all the quilt magazines seem to have the same patterns over and over. I can't find any difference from one magazine to the next. The only one I subscribe to is Block. A friend gave me a subscription to Quiltmaker and it's boring. I can skim though it in less then a few minutes. I prefer quilting blogs for great quilt info and patterns.

I have noticed fewer at Walmart but I only bought Quilter's Newsletter magazine and they stopped making it.
