Any recommendations for numbered pins?
 

I think I need to invest in some to keep my blocks in order when I am sewing them together. I see on Amazon the numbered pins are flower head, so I am thinking maybe I should just order plain flower head pins and number them myself with a Sharpie. Or? Also, is there one brand that is better than others? I like pins that are easy to glide into and out of the fabric, and I certainly prefer pins that don't lose their heads! Years ago I tried flower head pins and didn't like them, but I think I have to try again.

I have the blue pins from Clover with the flower head and they
glide easily (as long as you keep them dry). They also bend
easily. If you want something less bendable, get the other set
with yellow ones. These are a little thicker I think.
I also had a different set of flower head pins and they were
horrible. Can't remember the brand.

I used flower head pins for piecing a quilt top for which I wanted/needed to keep track of rows and columns. I used a Sharpie to number some and to put letters on others. I used one for the rows and the other for the columns.

I will cut a square of felt about 2inches and use a magic marker to add numbers then use a safety pin. That way I know it will not come loose or scratch me.

I can't really sew/press and keep all my blocks on my design wall.
When I'm happy with the display I mark all my blocks with painters
tape A1 - A10, etc. Take lots of pictures on my phone so I can
refer to them if I need to. Works for me.

Not really about pins .......but I keep blocks together in order, especially if blocks are different, by placing in paper plates. I then number the plates or write instructions on the plates. Have also used paper plates when a group is doing sewing crafts to give each person what is required for the item.

I use sticky notes with the row number written on them...then pin them on blocks. I have numbered pins (round flat head) but the number wore off if too close to heat or handled a lot. Pins are handled ALOT so I was like, Hello? So I just use sticky notes now.

I use white sticky dots which are easy to number, easy to stick on, easy to move around, no poking or pinning involved. My method is to mark the top row A1, A2, A3, etc. Row 2 is B1, B2, B3, etc, so I always pin the right blocks together before sewing.

These white dots are also easier to read from a distance and in a photo. I take several shots of my design to help me see needed changes from a different perspective.

I, too, just use sticky notes pinned to my blocks/rows. Now, I might take a page from zozee's book and use sticky dots that I don't have to pin! Never thought of that and I have a ton of sticky labels that are useless for most other tasks!
