Not UFO!

I think Quilt. Fabric. Thread. UFO. sums up the 4 most used words here, and will share one thing I've done to free UFO's from the back of the closet. UFO's are such a waste of our time and financial resources.
I asked a month or so ago what quilts we actually had in use on our beds. Many said they don't because their pets sleep on the bed. Now that is a shame! My pets are my family, and yes they sleep on my bed :) So these are some of the pet runners I've made lately from quilts that weren't going anywhere on their own. I'm still working on the perfect size...:) but love the concept and love seeing my work And the quilt on the bed too. I didn't batt them, 2 I used old flannel for backs, and yes the quilting is visible. The tumbler quilt is backed with left overs from a mystery quilt. And yes the quilting is visible. And super quick to complete on my home machine, maybe 3 or 4 hours to quilt, easy peasy. In order: Tumblers w/mystery Lozenges with raggedy ears, on a blooming nine-patch bed quilt Strings on Steriods If you don't have pets it is still a super way to get the backlog moving! Try it! Post your finish here!! |
Well done!

Great idea! I have been wanting to make some bed runners for a while unfortunately my UFO are already bigger than that. I am however working on a log cabin quilt I started 12 years ago almost finished with it, Yay!

Great job and great thinking.
I too have 1 dog that loves to sleep on my bed. Well, in my bed, as he loves to sleep "under" the covers. So, I do use my quilts on my bed. The other two (dogs) sleep on the floor in their beds. (As they are Seniors and prone to incontinence.) And, they can't safely get off my bed without hurting themselves. But, your right, those UFO's are like a ghost haunting my sewing room this year. Hope to finish as many of them as I can. Have started a list of future quilts for next year. I think I will have to go with the "mantra" One quilt at a time. Start to finish! Love the bed runner idea though. Will look so pretty with the right things underneath it. |
