Basting Using Pool Noodles
 

I just bought some pool noodles from Wal-Mart and 5/8" dowl-rods from Lowe's for basting. I should have been smart and bought the pool noodles first, but I didn't . When I got home I saw that I should have gotten the next size up in dowl-rods because they are loose inside the pool noodles. I was hoping for a snug fit.

Question for the experts: Will this be a problem? Should I return them and get the next size up? Thanks!

Not knowing what you are doing, I really can't answer your question about whether to return or not.
However, usually our gut reactions are telling us the truth ... if we listen!
So, if you think they are not the right size ... I'd say return and get what you think is correct.

Kind of a spin-off from how to load a longarm.

After seeing that, yes, I agree ... I would go for doweling as thick as you can,
that will still be able to slide into your pool noodle tightly.

If you want an even cheaper method, ask at your local quilt store for the tubes that come out of batting. They will give them to you for free. You can tape two together if they need to be longer.
