Fairfield Batting on sale at JoAnne's

Has anyone used the Fairfield batting that's on sale at JoAnne's? It seems like a good price but I've never used it and wouldn't want to buy 25 yards without a good recommendation. How does it compare with Warm & Natural or Pellon Nature's Touch?

I would recommend just purchasing a small Fairfield batt and trying it out before purchasing a 25 yard roll of it.
I know a couple people who purchase Fairfield battings- they have no preference- just grab the cheapest at the time. It is nothing like warm & natural.

If it is the same as in a package NO if you are going to have it long armed. If I tugged on it to straighten it out as ripped. This was a few years ago. Overstock.com has some great prices on batting.

Not a good batting for longarming I would pass on it and go for pellon 60/40

Thanks. That's what I needed to know.

I'm not a brand snob generally but if it works...I tried Fairfield batting many years ago when I first started out and I was not impressed, it seemed to tear easily and have thin spots. Decided to try the Warm Company poly batt (Soft & Bright) that was half the price of W&N and I haven't looked back. I've heard good things about Pellon batting too.

It would be fine for something small like a wallhanging, table runner. My LAQer refuses to use it.

I think you already have made a decision, but for others looking for a good batting, my very favorite is Dream Green Polyester. It is soft and easy to work with. It doesn't tear, no thin spots. The only place I can find it right now is on either amazon or fabric dot com. It is reasonable priced too. (of course doesn't shrink like cotton batting might.)

I wait til Hobbs is on sale from Connecting Threads then buy enough to get free shipping.
