Cutting table for sewing room
Any suggestions on what/where to buy. Can you post a picture of your tables.

I have an old library table that I use for a cutting table. Huge and sturdy and I got it at a HUD store for next to nothing.

4 x 2 ft table from Costco. Height adjusts, room for plastic storage drawers below.

My husband made mine along with several other pieces for my sewing room.
The cutting table is made from a sheet of plywood with a formica top. The bookcase serves as a leg while two sides are attached to the wall. It measures 4 feet by 5 feet. My sewing room looks rather bare, this picture was taken 8 years ago. I have accumulated a lot of stuff since then. |
I bought an adjustable height table from Ikea and my husband cut a sheet of plywood for the top so I have a 3x6 foot surface. I have it raised up a bit so it's just where I want it.

my hubs built mine. measured me floor to waist ..then cut 4'x8' 3/4" plywood mounted to 4x4" legs. wanted it sturdy enough to support my machines. he included a full plywood shelf about halfway down from top that i installed drawers & glides for tools & notions. it's too big for the "house of cubicles" we currently live in ..and i miss it! :)

This is my cutting and ironing station. It is solid and heavy. Lots of room underneath for extra storage too.

I have a 72 x 30" HDX very sturdy, fold in the middle table from Home Depot for under $45. Sure works for me!! I use it for more than just cutting.

Here’s mine. It’s made from the IKEA Kallax line - two 8-cubical and one 4-cubical pieces. Hubby built a plywood and wood platform on 6 casters, and the top is 1” melamine, all bought at Lowes. So easy to move around the room. I also had him put two cup holders and a built-in trashcan on one end. One needs a place for wine! It’s 4.5 x 6’ and on one side there’s an overhang to put stools under, which is great for when I’m doing applique or crafts. The big bonus is that he made the entire thing to be easily taken apart in the event we ever move again.

I found two short bookcases at Staples that were just the right height. I placed a solid core wood door on top (3'x8'). The door is not attached to the bookcases - just resting on them with some spare pieces of felt underneath to keep it from scratching the bookcases - so it's easy to take down and move. I store things underneath and in the bookcases.
