Quilting square estate sale find
2 Attachment(s)
Went to an estate sale of a quilter and bought a tub of neatly cut and ironed squares of every color and calico print imaginable. It would take forever to count them all. I'm estimating at least 500 squares...maybe more. Also bought a tub on various uncut calico fabric. Paid $8 for each tub. Any suggestions for a fairly easy quilt pattern? :sew:

Lucky you!

Nine Patch, Four Patch, you could just sew them together randomly too. I have seen several like that, and they were gorgeous.

You didn't mention what size those squares are. Maybe a lattice quilt?

Looks like they're 5" squares? A split fourpatch would be good.

Make HST's. I like the first arrangement on this page. http://makingmorewithless.blogspot.c...t-layouts.html

Lucky, lucky you!!!!! I haven't been to an estate sale, garage sale for years. I would be tempted to buy something I DO NOT NEED... I need to down size.... Have found cotton sheets, little dresses, shirts at thrift stores though....

Jenny Doan from Missouri Star Quilt co. does a lot of patterns with 5 inch squares.

Fun find and the legacy of quilter will live on. Half square triangle patterns would be my go-to for these squares.
