My sewing space progress pictures
 

A few people asked for progress pictures of the drop down sewing table and cutting board in my sewing room. Sorry it has taken me so long to get them posted but here they are.

We found the perfect sewing table at Home Depot...some assembly required.

We took the stain grade plywood to our very modern work shop. It has very good ventilation.

Hoping that we had measured everything correctly we cut all the pieces out of one sheet of plywood. Then dove tailed the corners and tongue & groove shelves.

Putting the pieces together with finish nails and wood glue and clamping it together to ensure it didn't fall apart.

Once the base of the cabinet was together we moved it to our equally modern paint shop. Don't panic I did have a large piece of clear plastic over my tile floor.

After staining the base we added the pegboard to the back. This would add stability as well as making great storage for all kinds of sewing stuff.

Next we added the drop down with folding legs that would be the sewing machine table. We used 5/8" white laminated particle board.

WooHoo, it was a perfect fit.

Next we worked on the drop down cutting table. Using another piece of stain grade plywood, we cut, nailed and glued the framework for the drop down. Then attached it to the wall above the daybed with some rather large molly bolts.

Then we added the large piece of particle board using an 8ft. piano hinge. The daybed supports the drop down and is at height that is only 1" taller than my kitchen countertops.

Well there you have it. I took us about 6 weeks to complete the entire project, but boy has it been worth it.

Today we are in the process of trading out the carpet in the room for this LVP http://www.usfloorsllc.com/flooring-...-coast-acacia/

I can't wait to drop my first pin on the new floor and NOT spend 30 minutes looking for it.

That's a really nice set up you've got! I have to ask - what is a "molly bolt"? I've never heard of that piece of hardware.

Here they are called crown bolts. We also used a few regular wood screws when we could find a stud.

Our kids will have some serious holes to patch when they get ready to sell the house after the DH and I are gone. But that's just payback for some of the holes we had to patch in their bedroom walls after they moved out. :p
