Lining up decorative machine stitches?

Does anyone have hints on how to line up decorative stitches? I'm using a Pfaff, but I don't think the machine make/model has much to do with the problem.

I am trying to mirror one decorative stitch on either side of a different one between them and need to line them up!

I have used strips of 1/4" quilter's tape to mark lines and then position the foot to the side of the tape.

I have a foot that I use. It is called a parallel stitch border guide. They sell them on ebay. I love mine.

Thank you for the information on the parallel stitch border guide. Just ordered one for my Bernina on Amazon.

If I understand you, you want to do the same design but reversed and a different one in the middle? For ME to get them 'identical". I'd do the first row; to get the mirror image exact, make sure of your settings; length and width then get out of that design and then go back in; reverse image it then set the length and width like the first one; then they should be identical but reversed then sew your separate one down the center. You might want to do a short sample to check the distance between the two that are mirror imaged. Good luck.
