My first time in London

My husband and I are now on “holiday” for our first time in London. Undoubtedly, there is so much to see and enjoy but if anyone knows of any quaint little quilt or haberdashery shops...I would love to hear your recommendations. Although my suitcase was packed to the brim for our 20 days of travel between London and Scotland, there’s room in my DH’s suitcase for fabric. ;)

Only quilt shop I know is in Birmingham UK, www.cottonpatch.co.uk I got it from asking about buying batting in EU/UK someone at Craftster.org buys there and says they have lots of quilt products.Maybe they ship to hotel address.

Google search brings up www.tikkilondon.com but is limited opening hours and is in Kew Gardens.
I visited London long ago in 1994 and distances are big and if you are new tourist is big distance between shops and shopping areas and travel to it . Quilt prices are higher than US and I guess you would be looking for UK fabric brands.

Go to liberty, if no other reason than just to see the quilts hanging in there. Lush

Thank you...I did see Tikki London and I think it’s a short train outside the city. I’ll google Liberty for sure.

I live in/around London and to be honest compared to USA you will be disappointed for quilting fabric. Most big shops are up north where space is cheaper! Liberties of London will be worth a visit to look at the fabrics (beware of the price tag!) London is fun for lots of other things...

A friend of mine just got back from a trip that included London. She said their hotel was out in the boonies and it was quite a walk/ride to get anywhere, but she got me some fabrics. The bag they were in says York Minster, and gives the website yorkminster.org. but I didn't find any fabric there itself, maybe it is a separate shop in the area. Still there is contact info at the website and maybe they know.

Quilt shops in the UK are few and far between. When I am in London, one of the places I go for specialist fabrics and trims is Berwick Street. Although the famous Berwick Street Market is mostly street food now, there are a lot of shops with wonderful silks and trimmings for the fashion industry. MacCulloch and Wallis on Poland Street is a proper haberdasher. I am not a fan of Liberty fabric but the shop itself is a delight. All three of these places are within walking distance of each other.
