Singer 222K Featherweight prices???

Has anyone noticed how high they are? If you do a search on ebay for completed listings, they're selling in the $1200.00 -- $1600.00 range. I bought mine for 50 bucks 20 years ago! I may sell at those prices.
Were they always so high? I know they didn't make nearly as many of the free arm models, but still.....???

Supply and demand. If there weren't as many made and a lot of people want them, the prices will be high.

I don't trust ebay for pricing. I sometimes think the people who are buying the high prices are the same people who are offering the machines. All it would take is a different account. Although I do know of one quilter who purchased machines off of ebay. When she downsized, she wanted the same high prices. I think she still has them, locals won't pay that much.

Three years ago I was glad to get mine for $1,000 off eBay. I was watching for quite a while before found one I wanted to purchase.

They were much more common in Canada than the US, so they bring pretty high $$ when they come up on eBay. Sometimes you can get real lucky off craigslist and get one that the seller does not realize it's not the same as a regular FW and is selling it in the $200- $300 range.

You can pay high prices or not on eBay. My husband has bought me a couple machines from eBay. I do have to say that both were in excellent condition. Sewed well and clean and nice. So my experience has been pretty good.

I just went to ebay and found lots of FWs from $102 to $600. 301s from $50 to $400. I paid under $100 for each of my 301s several years ago, so they haven't increased too I just put a third 301 on my watch list. Are they like potato chips? Shipping has certainly increased.

I finally purchased a 301 long bed for twice what I paid for my 301A in 2004. It was $150 and came with everything, including a case. She looks like she just left the showroom floor and she sews an awesome stitch. I have wanted a long bed since I first saw them.

They are asking in the $350.00 range here on craigslist. I don't watch shopgoodwill.com much anymore, but just checked it. It seems to be in the same ranges as usual. They were selling at about $250.00 a while back. The nicer ones going for $300. or so, and the not so nice ones for less. The white ones go for more. The ones that have been repainted in the bright colors are going for high prices, though.

I would think that anyone who pays $1200. for a regular old featherweight has more money than sense.

bkay..that's kind of the point...the 222k isn't a regular featherweight..it has a free arm and the feed dogs can be lowered, and a few other features I can't remember right now..but it's not the "regular old featherweight".

Donna, I have seen them sell on Ebay for at least $1000 or more. They are pretty rare with that free arm. You could definitely make some green on yours!
