Recently Purchased Pfaff 1200 GQ

Hello, out there. I recently bought a second hand Pfaff 1200 GQ, as I needed the throat space for FMQ. I just wanted to know if any one can help me with thread and bobbin combinations , needles, and tension.
The machine was sewing well, until I changed the thread to a Bottom Lin 60 wt poly , and have upset the tension . Any advice on how to fix this will be truly appreciated . Thanks in advance!

Check the Pfaff GQ group at "PfaffHobbyGrandQuilter@[email protected]" They should be able to help you, and may even have an instruction book in their files.

I piece on a Grand Quilter every day and have decided that it's a thread snob. I have best results with Aurifil. Also you might invest in a new bobbin case. inuse 80\12 needles exclusively.

I also piece on a Viking Mega Quilter - same machine. You have to turn the top tension knob a lot to make a difference - not like a coputerized machine where just a little turn changes it. also the pre-tension knob (above the regular tension discs) should be about 1/4" apart. and you cant be afraid to change the bobbin tension. Get a spare bobbin case if you're afraid of screwing it up. Look at Jamie Wallen's you tube video on adjusting bobbin tension - same as they do on longarms. these machines are incredible workhorses!! Have had mine for 13 years & it still makes a beautiful stitch.

It is a thinner thread so you probably need to tighten bobbin tension.
