What is it that people use to store fabric on?

I’ve seen a few pictures of well organized closets that have the fabric wrapped around boards of some kind then stacked on the shelves like books. Are those boards a product of some kind?

you mean like full bolts of fabric? I have not seen the pictures that you are referencing

I use comic book boards, bought off Amazon. It really does help me keep everything organized!

Some people use acid free comic book boards. Alaskasunshines QB tutorial I think used foam core.

I usually get empty bolts from my fabric store and store more than one yard.

I used Coroplast, the rigid stuff that a lot of political signs are printed on. It comes in huge sheets. My supplier cut them in half so that they'd fit in the back of my SUV. Then I cut them into pieces with a 60mm rotary cutter.

I too use the fabric bolts from the store or there is a folding board that they sell at the dollar store and I just cut it down to the size I need.

1) There are expensive boards to wrap fabric on (but I found them too thick, and very pricey):

2.) many people use home made ideas made by people who have access to some material that they cut down and DIY. This varies by what people have access too and their creativity.

3) But most of us (this is now my storage technique) use the comic book boards to wrap our fabric around, neat and tidy:

I use foam core that I buy from Dollar Tree.

I use the tri-panel display boards I get at Walmart -- the kind kids use for science fair displays. I use a "special" rotary cutter to make 6" x 12" slabs and wind my fabric around those. It makes for compact mini-bolts that fit nicely on my bookcase/storage shelf unit in my sewing room. This is also relatively inexpensive in comparison to using precut boards from other sources.
