What are the better hand needles for attaching binding?

I am using John James Pebble needles to attach my bindings and the needles don't seem to last long. Part of the silver peels off the needle shank. Am I being too hard on my needles? I don't think I'm that tough on the needle as I go through the layers of the binding? Or is it the needles that are the problem?

What needles have you found that work well and don't flake or peel? What size is the best?

I only use straw or milliners needles other than the betweens. I have never heard of any needles peeling, maybe you just got a bad batch.

I use a John James embroidery needles to sew on my binding. Really sharp with a bigger eye for threading and I have never had any problems with them.

These are my favorites for bindings and applique

I use embroidery needles also. Either Tulip or John Jay. I've used the same needles for years and never had them peel.

I also often use John JAMES needles, sharps and Milners, or embroidery most often. I’ve never heard of ( Pebbles) what are they normally for? I also have Roxanne needles- Sharps and embroidery which I really like. They are just more difficult for me to find

I like Tulip brand or Roxanne brand. For hand sewing bindings I am not that particular about what kind of needle I use so I grab whatever is sticking out of my pin cushion. Usually it ends up being a between or applique needle.

Like feline fanatic, I'm not particular about needles for hand sewing bindings - whatever is in the pin cushion. Since I'm a hand quilter, though, that usually means a Roxanne Between needle.

I buy those from Colonial Needle. Great prices, selection and customer service.

My friend gave me a needle that she always uses for her needle turn applique and I love it. It is small but very nice to go thru the fabrics for any kind of hand sewing. I think the needle is from Karen Buckley. I will have to ask her when I see her again.

I buy John James at my favorite LQS. I hand quilt and prefer a#9 Betweens
