Correct needles for your machine

I have a Janome 7700 Can anyone tell me what kind of needles you use in your machines and if you have the same type of machine that I have? I would appreciate any help

I have a Janome 8900 and just use Schmetz of varying sizes but I heard from a Janome dealer that Organ needles are great for Janomes.

My last project was hard on my needle supply! If I don't get to the store to replenish the Schmetz ones, can I use some Singer needles that are in the back of the drawer? I have a Janome 4800--yeah, it's "old" but it does what I want it to do even with a couple million miles on 'er.

My favorite needle for piecing is the Superior Titanium Topstitch.
It goes through all those thick seams very smoothly and they stay
sharp longer. I have a Janome 6600 and a 9400.
If I get skipped stitches then I use the Organ purple tips which
is recommended.

The only needles you have to be particular about fitting is one for the Singer Featherweight. Any brand of needles for domestic machines will fit.

When I bought my latest Janome (and I have four) the Organ needles were included with it. there are several sizes etc. Also they do sell Janome needles at there store. Organ needles can be found on line in pks of 10 I bought 100 needles for less than $25. That is what I use for regular sewing but have the Janome needles for emb.

singer brand needles are only good for singer brand machines.

the Horizon series (everything from 7700 on up) Janome machines work best with organ brand needles.
the Organ company also manufacturers the needles the carry the Janome brand name.
you will pay less for "plain" organ.
the only difference between the two brands is that organs are not normally color coded.

I don't know who told you this but a FW is just a small domestic machine. I've never had an issue with the needles I use. I buy Organ needles 100 at a time and use them in all my domestic sewing machines and all my embroidery machines. The Janome needles are just repackaged Organ needles.

Cari

I also found this to be true. My FW's take Organs and many others.

sewing machine needles do come in different "styles" - all of my "regular" sewing machines use a 130/705 - (sometimes a letter follows those numbers.)

i have used singer, schmetz , and organ needles in my singer 237s.

i do not know if the newer machines are more persnickety about what brand they prefer.
