29" and 36" vintage fabric

I just uncovered some fabrics I had in my sewing room. The fabric width is 29" for one and 36" for the other and I was curious if anyone knew when those fabrics might have been made. If anyone knows where to look for vintage fabric that might be helpful as well. Thanks

I remember fabrics coming in 36" widths when I was young. I would guess the 60's.

I like that print! In the late 70s was when I started sewing, and I remember 36" wide fabric. I don't remember 29" but that doesn't mean they didn't co-exist.

I remember these widths of fabric from my high school days-the 1950's and buying them for sewing my clothes and my sewing classes at school. The 29 inch was not common but the 35 inch was standard.

Fabrics were still being made at 36" wide in the 1960s but that is about the top end for US production. I don't remember 29", could it be rayon?? Looks to me from the scale that the blue piece is probably around the 40-50s, but that's just a wild guess. I know I have some of basically that tone of blue that is earlier.

And don't forget about metric measurements instead of yardage. That one has fooled me more than once.

I like that green too and I'm not a 'green' kind of person. I agree with the others - 50's and 60's; although I'm thinking I recall some 30" wide so maybe late 40's? Glad they are 40-42" now. Wish they were 50's prices though! LOL

36” wide was still available in the 50’s. That 29” looks like a ‘30’s or early ‘40’s pattern. That color of green is a 30’s color for sure. I love it!

I've got to check my monitor settings somehow -- to me that looks like a dusty blue and not green!

when I was in high school and sewing my own clothes I can remember the fabrics being 36" wide. That was in the 60's. Don't ever remember 29" wide fabrics. Love your green fabric-that is quite a find.
