Cleaned my machine today. I use canned air. I buy it at Walmart in the electronic department. It works really well. I've read articles about using pipe cleaners, q-tips. It got me curious, what do all you use to clean your machine, hints, tips. Got to keep our machines in tip top shape so we can keep creating quilts.

We use pipe cleaners and a small vacuum made for computers. Our Pfaff dealer told us never to use the canned air because the propellants can cause moisture to accumulate inside the machine and cause rust or computer problems. When he sees our machines for service he always comments that they are clean on the inside.

Your machine looks brand new inside! I bet it sounds and sews better now!

I use a blush make up brush that is a soft animal hair. It is a dust magnet and you only have to touch it to the fuzz and it attaches instantly.

I was told never to use canned air. soft brush and pipe cleaners do it for me

Sometimes I vacuum it out. Most always I dust out with old style long bristle brush. They are not available any more.

This is interesting. I clean my machine out regularly but can’t imagine it ever getting to that stage - I would be scared of it breaking! I just use the thin little brush that came with my machine and a bit of puff... I like the idea of a makeup brush though!

I was told to Never use canned air on a machine that can not be taken apart, the lint can blow into the mother board, etc. just bad for the machine if you do not know how to remove the outer skin of the machine. On my old black Singer I have used compressed air, works great. I take it out to the garage and hook up the husbands air compressor, boy, the dust and lint storm is amazing!

I use Q tips and the brush that came with the machine. And I clean it out and add a drop of oil on the race with every bobbin change.

Canned air is okay if the housing is off the machine so the dust won't get caught. I bought a set of make up brushes and use those. They work great. Don't buy inexpensive brushes, the bristles fall out and then you have those to get out.
