Is this Bernina 880 Plus a good deal?

I found a floor model Bernina 880 Plus for $9000. They will also give me a sewing table with a few drawers, the gold Anniversary foot and will clean the machine. Is this a good deal?

Wow! That is a lot of sewing machine but that is even more of a financial outlay. I went to Mr. Google to read reviews as well as see if I could find some other machines offered. I did find one machine on Ebay. Here's the link https://www.ebay.com/itm/Bernina-880...-/254174131938

Reviews seem to say that it is not for a novice and it is very important to attend all the get-to-know-your-machine classes available. I think you have to ask yourself if you will actually make use of some/many/most of this high end machine's features and then weigh it against the cost. I know I could not appreciate it because it is waaaaay over my skill level to use.

Oh and that was just a quick Google search. Maybe spend much more time than I did, reading the hits on Google.

Go to the Bernina website and see if any models are currently on sale. There you can also see the msrp price of this machine new, which will help you determine the answer to your question. I bought the new Bernina 570 in March (last month) when it was on sale for $500 off. Also, some dealers discount the msrp prices on new machines while others don't at all. Maybe the same applies to dealers selling traded-in machines, so it might do you good to look around a bit and ask questions.

I was at a Bernina dealer yesterday. They are discontinuing selling the high end machines and marked this model down to $8900. Does your offer come with the embroidery model? I think it doesn't come with the machine? [can't remember]. Even if it does, the hoop that comes with that is not as large as I liked. The larger hoop is $300 and the magnetic hoop is $700! If I got everything I wanted, it would be $12000.

In my classes when I got my new machine there were a couple of the 880. They didn’t come with a table or gold foot and they were more than that. If that is the machine you are looking for I feel it is a pretty decent deal. I don’t know why but I wish I had that gold foot!!!!! Make sure they will offer the classes and the full warranty.

I have two friends who each bought one of these Berninas and both have regretted their purchases. The machine cost a fortune to have serviced and if the warranty is out a simple repair could be over a thousand as my friend found out. She said never again and traded for a simpler machine when dealer offered her an amazing deal.

I bought a Bernina Floor Model 790 with the embroidery unit. I was able to purchase mine for almost 50% off. I do not regret getting it. I was in the LQS often and when they decided to stop selling Bernina's, they contacted me about the floor model. It's the best machine I have ever owned. I did not get any classes with mine. I do regret that. But I have taken a few classes from my LQS, not where I purchased. They said I would not get classes because of the big discount on the machine. I did get the same warranty. My first cleaning was free and since then I have only had it 2 1/2 years so It's due for a cleaning now. I was told it's $150. I have found lots of online classes and tutorials on the bernina web site. I quilt and sew garments and other items, so this was a dream machine for me. Good luck with your decision. I know its a lot of money but I think I spent wisely. My daughter says she wants it when I can't sew anymore. I intend to sew till I can't anymore....LOL

I don't know if that's a good deal, but I do know that I love my Berninas. IMO, they are high quality machines. I've never had to mess with the tensions as much as I do on other machines and mine just keeps sewing. I'm not sure where you, lvmybskt, but I pay almost that much to have any of my machines serviced.

This is a good deal. Make sure the embroidery module is included because it comes with the machine.
