I want to quilt this in metallic thread. Am thinking silver, gold or blue. Any brand names that you can think of that would be best? I have a brother dreamweaver ..

Thanks,

I have had good luck with both Wonderfil's and Superior's metallics. Metallics can be fussy. Lot of tension adjustments and make sure you use a needle made for metallics.

I have just finished a quilt using only metallic. I got it at thread arts and it come in many colors. I also have the dreamweaver and used it in bottom and top. Play around with it. I am by no means an experienced quilter but have had good luck with this one. I found that in some cases brought the tension down to 1.8.

I recently did a project using a gold metallic thread from Superior on the top and a regular black on the bottom. I was doing free-hand free-motion on a Bernina with a large throat. It was easy to work with, didn't have any breakage issues. Feels nice and smooth when you rub your hands over it, I'd call it suitable for a baby quilt even but I don't know how well the thread will hold up long term. Pretty sure it was this one:

I use superior metallic on top. Sofine 50 matching the top in the bottom. Metallic in both top and bottom can be problematic

Here is the brand our LQS recommends. I have a few colors and the numbers match up. It is a larger cone so comes off the spool easily using a thread stand.

Another pretty thread to consider is WonderFil Hologram. It is a small spool. I've experienced a little breakage using it sometimes which could be the needle type/size.

BTW: Floriani has metallic thread too. I haven't used it though.

I use the Superior Threads Holder when sewing with any metallic, monopoly or any otherwise "fussy" threads. I swear by it. I also reduce tension and use a needle designed for metallic threads

I've used Floriani metallic thread many times and had no problem with it. I used a plain color on the bobbin.
