Need Help - quilting labels
 

Its been a long time since I've been here. I need help. I'm making yo-yo throws with a flannel backing. I've bought a book that have iron-on quilting labels. I'm wanting to iron the quilting label on muslin fabric. I can customize my quilting labels by coloring or painting them. I'm thinking that I want to color them. Can anyone recommend a good fabric color markers or a fabric crayon. Plus not sure if muslin fabric is gone to be good to use. Afraid that it might bleed. I can use all the help I can get.

I don't think I would use crayons for the labels. When I colored a piece of fabric with crayons, it was hard to get the colors darker than pastel, and it does get lighter with repeated washings. At quilt shops you can buy fabric markers to use, in different colors and with different thicknesses of fine tips. They are permanent, specifically for fabrics, and what most quilters use to write on labels.

Inktense pencils. Or Micron pigma pens. Prewash the muslin with no fabric softener so what ever you use will ( soak in) to the fibers

I always hand embroider my labels, no bleeding, no fading.

I use Micron pens and heat set for 30 sec. on cotton setting w/ no steam. I'm not sure if you need to heat set, but I do it anyway to be safe. They come in colors with different size tips. Inktense pencils if you want to color larger areas. Make sure to heat set, follow instructions on packaging.

Derwent water color pencils. Easy to work with and permanent.
