SID Foot??
 

On another thread about the walking foot someone mentioned a stitch in the ditch foot. News to me so straight on to Google to find out what it looks like and then to my Janome foot collection....I have one that looks somewhat like the one in the video I watched but my manual calls it a Blind Hemming Foot. Is this another name for the SID foot? Please tell me it is!

Yes, the blind hem foot should work for stitch in the ditch -- as long as you can move your needle to the correct position, on one side or the other of the guide.

Thanks Osewme....that looks like a great reference for Janome....I was so excited I couldn’t wait to find the answer myself.....I think I will try the even feed as Quiltedsunshine suggests before I run out and buy one.

May I offer you a piece of advice that someone here offered me for my Janome? Buy either Janome brand or Kenmore. Nothing off-brand as they just don't fit well. I bought an off brand from an online company for my little DC1020 (didn't know any better) and it would work for a while, but the vibration of the machine made it always wobble loose. You'll pay more for the Janome walking foot straight from Kenmore's site, but you won't be frustrated with the performance .

excellent advice. Generic is not worth the aggravation they can give.

I don't buy generic or universal anything for my machines. Most of my machines came with an Edge Joining foot that looks just like the SID foot. I compared it to one and could not find any difference at all.

Has anyone here used a SID foot? I get that there is a 'tongue' that runs along the ditch, but sometimes the ditch changes sides of the seam according to the direction the seam has been pressed. How do you deal with this if the needle is on one side ?

Are Janome feet interchangeable on different Janome models? I have a SITD foot for the MC 9400. I never use it. I have better luck with SITD when I fmq. Cattitude if you think my 9400 foot would work on your machine I would be happy to give it to you. Let me know.

I've done SID with a walking foot, but by far, the most accurate method I've used is with the line tamer ruler. You just line it up over your seam and go.
