Turissa Machine

I ran across a Turissa machine at thrift store. Gorgeous green color, electric, had a bobbin and everything moved so i bought it. Come to find out it is missing the bobbin case and i haven't been able to find one. Takes a long bobbin, research indicates it is German, pre-Viking. Thoughts? Any one want it who has access to old parts?

I'm way confused. The only green Turrisa machines that I see are free-arm, which are probably from the 1950s. They also appear to be round bobbins.

Can you take a picture of the bobbin and where it goes?

I can't tell much about Viking other than associated with Husqvarna - Viking which started making sewing machines in Sweden in 1872.

Or a link indicating German pre-Viking?

Janey - Neat people never make the exciting discoveries I do.

Try www.sew-rite.com or email him at [email protected]. I know he has old singer parts, not sure about what you're looking for.

Are you sure it has a long bobbin? A long bobbin doesn't exactly have a bobbin case, rather, it has a shuttle. Most machines that came with that configuration were really old sewing machines (treadles, mostly).

This is what a long bobbin looks like:

I did a couple of searches and didn't find any photos of Turissa sewing machines old enough to have a long bobbin and shuttle system. Here's some information: https://www.fiddlebase.com/swiss-machines/turissa/

Here's a bobbin case for sale that says it's for a Turissa. I don't know if they all have the same bobbin case, as I've never seen a Turissa machine. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Sewing-mach...sAAMXQupJRFx2T

I've never seen that machine either , but long bobbins go in shuttles like this under slides.

I have a Turissa swissmatic in Chile. This machine was patented in 1962 but the company was shortly bought by Viking. I have the user manual and can take a picture of the bobbin case to upload it here.

I think Turissa is Swiss and some of these (including a few similar German brands) had a type of bobbin case with a hinged lid you just close onto the bobbin. With these there are no separate bobbin case, but it's still vertical (not drop in). My Phoenix is like that. I don't know too much about various Turissa models, but you will get more help if you can manage to post a picture or two. If QF is misbehaving you can post a picture on an image bin or public album and link to it.
