Watercolor Quilts

Has anyone made a watercolor quilt kit from Whims. If so, do you have any tips.

I had to look it up to find out and there are bunches. Which one are you making? https://www.bing.com/shop?q=Watercol...104C6E40244570

Mine was not a kit, but when I first started quilting I made a watercolor wall hanging and used the gridded fusible interfacing with one inch markings. It was beautiful, easy, fun and accurate. My quilting friend owns it now.

I'm making At The Cross. Was wondering if I should lay out the whole quilt before I start fusing or do it as I get each section done.

When I did a watercolor quilt years ago I did not bother with the fusible grid. I was going to be hand quilting and did not want to add to the bulk/difficulty. I just laid out my squares in the appropriate arrangement and sewed it together just like any other set of quilt blocks. And it was queen sized with 2" squares!

I'm doing that type of quilt right now. Laying out a section at a time and using the grid method to sew the squares together. It's working quite well.

I just posted pictures in the Birthday Candy Swap - because I'm using my birthday candies to make it. Will use 1600 2.5" squares.

Wow, never seen these before they’re beautiful! Another thing to add to the ‘to do’ list...

I have not made one but have all the fabrics and everything I need to make one and a great book with several patterns on Water color quilts. It is on the list but for now near the bottom of my quilting list. It is ready to go when I am.

I made one with the heart in it (did not use a kit) but I used the thin fusible pellon "grid" product to hold the fabric squares in place while you sew them together. Turned out beautiful.
