Paper piecing help

I haven't done paper piecing in ages. I can't remember what the double // lines mean on pattern. I think I need to print a second template, do the 6 a, b, c, d that have the // lines separately and then add to the 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 piece that has already been pieced. Then go on to 7, 8 and 9. Is that correct?

Could you take a picture of the pieces you are talking about? And what is the pattern name and/or designer? Perhaps a link would be better?

I tried to attach it, but it wouldn't upload. It's from an old Carol Doak CD, so no link and there are no piecing directions on the cd either. =(

I have a few of her free patterns, and they all start at 1,2,3 etc. Can you give us a name of the block/quilt and the cd - someone here may have it.

the double lines are 1 - solid - where you sew and 2 - dashed, your 1/4 inch seam! - this is where you would cut / trim down to

Not sure about this for your pattern but in certain patterns your double slashes // are for alignment of pieces

Not sure if this is right, but if the dashed lines are for cutting, piece no 1 will have no dashed lines inside the shape.

Ready to be shot down if flames here. . . :o

Carol Doak has paper piecing tutuorials on You Tube. Good Luck!!

I checked one of my Carol Doak books. she says "the // are placed on the seam(s) that need to be pieced before adding the unit to the foundation. The pieced units are made up of fabric pieces that you sew together before adding them to the foundation."
