Las Vegas~Things to see and do?

Greetings!

We're taking an anniversary trip to Las Vegas (leaving Thursday morning) and have tickets to see Cirque du Soleil and the Eagles concert. We won't be there long but have some daytime hours to fill and are not interested in gambling. We are staying at the MGM Grand and will not have transportation unless it's Uber or bus.

Thanks for any suggestions!

Last time I was there I went to the Hermitage museum in The Venetian. We also went to Madame Tussauds Wax Museum which was lots of fun. The fountains at Bellagio are fun to watch as well. My favorite thing to do when I'm in Las Vegas is visit the Hoover Dam but that requires transportation. Enjoy.

I have only been to Las Vegas one time and I too was not a gambler. One of the fun things I really enjoyed was walking downtown and being under all the lights at night. It is a whole different flavor from the strip. Lots of good food with very little cost.

It's been a long time since I was in Vegas but then there were tour companies who had booths in the lobby of the hotel. There were various outings to places near Vegas. We enjoyed the one to Hoover Dam. By some coincidence we had the same driver on the second trip we took outside of town. He recognized us and put us in the front seat where we could hear him and he did a commentary as we drove through the countryside. He pointed out where some movies were made and other items of interest that otherwise we would never have known.

We were there a year ago. Stroll the strip at night. Stunning. We took an Uber to the mob museum and the neon signs museum. Throughly enjoyed them. We also enjoyed wandering around the old original strip(name escaping me). More our style. Close to mob museum. Took a bus tour to the canyon and also a tour to the valley of fire- that one was 1/2 day and well worth it. They picked us up at our hotel.

My husband is a history guy, so we visited the National Atomic Testing Museum. I enjoyed it more than I expected to. We took the city bus there, but walked back to our hotel on the strip.

Try an excursion to Grand Canyon or Hoover Dam. Quite spectacular!

Hoover Dam is well worth the trip. Also, go to the Forum Shops located at Caesars.

Don't miss the Bellagio Fountains, or the Mirage Volcano both at night, both free. Go to downtown Las Vegas and see all the free street shows under the "Canopy" . (Can 't remember the official name for it.). As far as transportation, the Monorail is reasonably priced and goes up and down the strip. I loved the Tournament of Kings dinner show at Excalibur, the Titanic exhibit (can't remember where) . Most of the hotels have something special to do and see, some expensive, some not, and s ome free. Have fun!

There is so much more to Vegas than Gambling.

The Deuce Bus makes it easy to get around. https://www.lasvegashowto.com/las-vegas-deuce Plus there are people movers, mono rails that travel between several of the casinos.

There are innumerable taxis in the city and as long as there is not a big convention the wait for one is short.

A trip to Fremont at night is 'interesting' to say the least. I would not go there alone at night, but with a group or a friend it is great. In 2012 we were in Vegas with another couple and had fun there. I did the zip line while the ceiling was doing the light show.

There is more food available than you could imagine. From Buffets to steak houses, and much more. I love the lunch at Estiatorio Milos. It is in the Cosmo and has a wonderful lunch special. Reservations are suggested. The lunch special used it be the year, so this year it would have been $20.19, but it has been 3 years since I was last there and they may have changed their pricing.

Very best tip is to bring comfortable shoes. You will be walking miles. Even if you stay within your Casino you will be walking great distances.

I love people watching and Mon Ami Gabi at the Paris Casino has an outdoor patio. You can watch the Bellagio fountains and the people on the street as you dine. There are not too many places with street facing dining.

I was looking at cheap trips to Vegas for November. Your post is making me think I should look again.
