Looking for pattern for dorm twin xl bed quilt

my youngest son is going to be living in a dorm and I’d like to send him to college with a quilt for his twin xl bed. I’m having a hard time finding patterns made for the dorm beds. Anyone have any leads?

You may just need to find a pattern you like for a regular twin and add a row or two of blocks to make it longer by however many inches longer it needs to be. Been a long time since I was in college dorm so I'm not knowing the length you would need.

I agree with MawMaw-just use any quilt block pattern and add to the top or bottom. Do you know how long a twin XL measures at?

What ever pattern you pick, be ready for it to be abused.

When I make twin size for college students, I include a pillow sham for the pillow. It seem much easier than trying to make it long enough to tuck in a pillow. But then, in reality, do college students make up the bed?

Beds in dorms are used for sitting, wrestling and spilling upon. Make a dorm bed? Are you kidding? The thought is wonderful but you may be disappointed in the treatment that quilt gets.

I see others have posted the info for the size of an XL Twin quilt.

I am posting to give you a suggestion for Fabric to use. My dorm quilt that is still in use today....1976 to 2019.. is made of Blue jeans of all different shades. The pattern is squares. The backing is red denim. After college graduation and getting married, the denim quilt has been used at picnics...went to football games to keep us warm in the stands, Laid on the ground for a Play Mat for babies and so on!

A lady went door to door and sold her quilts. I paid $30. It never goes out of style and the denim is tough to hold up through the years. She didn't put batting in this quilt. It is heavy and requires washing and drying at the laundromat. She even made a few squares out of the pockets of the jeans!

I have made quilts for dorm rooms. My daughter's in 1991. Joann's fabric. It went to college for 4 years and has survived 24 years of marriage. They still snuggle under it while watching TV. My grandson's quilt home is the back of a chair or couch. He prefers a comforter to sleep under. My granddaughter loves hers. I made a regular size twin and two pillow shams. She loves lots of pillows on her bed. I also made a matching (color wave) for her roommate. Don't know how often the beds get made but I know they love them.
