Vintage Sewing Cabinet
3 Attachment(s)
I picked this little sewing cabinet up on the local Facebook Marketplace on Friday for $35. Sweet!! I'm guessing from the wood thickness, color and style that it may date back to 1940 or before. One of the rounded hinges on a top flap has been replaced with a cheap hinge, and that need to be replaced, and it needs a little TLC. Sure would enjoy knowing more about it. The woman I bought it from said she was selling for a friend. Does anyone on here know anything about this style of cabinet?

Very nice, good deal !

I believe that is a Singer cabinet. It was often paired with a 201. It looks to be in very nice condition.

Good call, per http://ismacs.net/singer_sewing_mach...ny/48_cab.html I was kind of thrown because of the squarer corners of the opening. Janey - Neat people never make the exciting discoveries I do. |
I only have one of the three drawers that swing out to access them. Found it in the middle compartment. Does any one know where I can find two more to complete the set? Going to get my 99K out of the closet to see if it will fit in the cabinet. If not, it's still a beautiful cabinet.

Oh I love that and hope I can find one someday!

Your 99 will "fit", but you'll find the hinge pins don't line up. This cabinet was made for full size machines.

Yep, I have that cabinet with a Singer 201. Yet to work on it as it desperately needs a rewire. Originally, I was hesitant to buy it, because the cabinet needs some work as well, but I couldn't resist!

Great bargain and a very nice cabinet.
