Looking for coleslaw recipe...

That we had at a restaurant today. It’s an oil/vinegar or maybe something citus with poppy seeds and a little green onion. It’s very light and hardly oily at all. Got any ideas?

There are copycat recipes out on the internet for specific restaurant chains.

My favorite coleslaw is made this way: to one package of shredded coleslaw mix, add the dressing. It's made using 1/2 cup granulated sugar and 1/4 cup vinegar, with about a half teaspoon cracked black pepper. Pour the dressing over the cabbage and seal it in a plastic container. Shake the coleslaw occasionally to make sure the dressing coats the cabbage well. It's usually better made a day or two ahead.

my coleslaw dressing is this: 1 teaspoon sugar, 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar and 3 tablespoons mayo. Shake or stir with whisk until mixed, pour over coleslaw mix.

This is my favorite. I think letting the onion & sugar set makes it extra tasty.

Dice a medium onion and add 1 cup sugar
Let set for 30 minutes

1 cup veg. Oil
½ cup cider vinegar
1/3 cup mayo
1 tsp. Salt
½ tsp. Celery seed
Shake in a jar and pour over 2-3 pkgs cole slaw & onion/sugar.
Mix and let set in fridge overnite or a few hrs. Mix a couple of times before serving.

I'm sure this is not what you ate at the restaurant, but it is my favorite cole slaw:

Oriental Cole Slaw

6 Green Onions, sliced
1 head Cabbage (chopped fine) or 2 large bags Cole Slaw Mix
2 packages Top Ramen Noodles (crushed) – omit seasoning mix
1/2 cup Slivered Almonds (brown under the broiler or a minute or two)
1/2 cup Sesame Seeds (brown with almonds)

Dressing:

4 tablespoons Sugar
2 teaspoons Salt
3/4 cup Olive Oil
1 teaspoon Ground Pepper
6 tablespoons Rice Vinegar (green label)

Mix dressing and add to other ingredients just before serving. You can easily cut this recipe in half and you can mix the dressing earlier in the day and refrigerate until ready to use.

This is the one I use:

I don't eat Cole slaw so my husband tastes it and has he add anything that is lacking.

I use the already chopped up bag of Cole Slaw mix from the store (then one with both purple and green cabbage and carrots)
3/4 to One cup Miracle Whip light
1/8 cup Olive oil
1/8 Apple Cider Vinegar
1/2 cup Sugar
1/8 to 1/4 cup Pineapple juice
1/2 chopped up Pineapple tibits
A dash of Celery Seed

Mix everything but the cabbage mixture in a bowl
then pour half the dressing into the cabbage mixture
make sure its all incorporated, then add the rest of the dressing
mix evenly and let it set in the frig for an hour before taste testing to see if
if it's too sweet (add a touch of the apple cider vinegar)
or to tangy in which case add some of the leftover pineapple juice
then if any adjustments are made taste test about 15 mins later

If all is good, dig in and enjoy

The one I grew up with is equal parts sugar, oil and vinegar. Whisk together and pour over shredded cabbage. However since DH prefers creamy and he eats more of it than I do, I buy Marzetti's slaw dressing now and pre-shredded cabbage

We like Betty Crocker’s Asian Coleslaw. No mayo

1 bag coleslaw mix
4 green onions chopped
1/3 cup orange marmalade (I have used sugar free)
1/4 cup rice vinegar or white wine vinegar
1 tbsp sugar or sugar substitute. I use Granulated Splenda
1 tbsp sesame oil
1 1/4 tsps grated gingerroot. I use the squeeze tube
1 tsp salt. I leave this out.

Mix all ingredients
let sit sit at least 30 minutes
