Batting Question

Hey all - I want to make decorative table runners for my dining room table that double as hot pads for hot dishes out of the oven - what type of batting would you recommend?

Insulbrite.

Do I really "need" insulbrite since I'm not using them to carry hot stuff? I guess I'm looking for a cheaper option that will still help protect my table from the heat.

I like to use thermore(spelling?). It’s light and easy to quilt.

The insulbrite will protect your table.

I would use both Insulbrite and a thick cotton batting that is an even thickness all over, both above and below the Insulbrite. While I love Thermore because of it's even thickness, I would hesitate to use it where I would be putting hot dishes ontop of it because it is a synthetic, and I fear it would melt. Cotton won't melt.

Sounds like I'll be using the Insulbrite - thanks everybody

Hobby Lobby has insulbrite at 20 inches wide at 2.09 per yard.
