Definitely! Often strips cut off from the sides cut, after quilting a top, will be perfect. What are you planning to make?

I agree with the others but one I don't recommend is fleece. I used it for one and the runner doesn't lay flat.

Found 2 old white baby blankets in my Moms cedar chest. Perfect for table runner batting but soon I’ll be running out.

It has been recommended to me to use pellon fleece in the table runners or place mats that I am making. I used this years ago on tree skirts that I made and they lay very nice and flat.

Just a thought … if you used Insulbrite, it would help protect your table if you put hot dishes on it.

If it is only for decoration perhaps you could use flannel as the batting.
