FYI alert for the new date

I saw a news story that said to make sure you write out the whole date when doing any transactions. They have alerted that just signing the .....20 ....any number could be written in after the 20 by fraudsters like 2019 etc.

I never would have thought of that! It never ceases to amaze me what lengths people will go to. When I worked in retail management we had extensive loss prevention training, and worked with many different groups/agencies during training. I couldn't believe much of what I was seeing and learning!

I heard on the radio here. To write date on checks as: January 4, 2020. I haven't written any checks yet and don't know if I will remember when it is time.

I read about that fraud alert as well. I usually write out the entire year when writing checks anyhow but signing documents, not so much. Electronically controlled dates usually require all 4 digits for the year but not written ones. Will have to re-train myself when signing documents.

I heard this on the news too. Funny thing is since the turn of the century I have been writing out the entire year on everything. I just can't seem to get my head around this new century. Here's to 2020!

Missed that on the news. Thanks for posting it!

I must be dense. I don't 'get' why it matters...

Another point of view. I think this is another media frenzy band-wagon perhaps. Checks are only good for a certain amount of time; some for only 90 days now. Why back-date something so it's no good?

My last vehicle purchase was done electronically. Sign the documents on a computer screen embedded in the dealer's desk top. LOL.

I would have never thought of this but I guess someone that wants to be evil will try any thing. Very sad to think of. Thank you so much for informing us.
