Pineapple Quilt Blocks
 

This is on my 2020 wish list, I made this sample already that I will turn into a wall hanging, but was wondering if it is always a bugger to get the points to match when joining these blocks. I heavily starched my fabrics before cutting and my seam allowance is spot on, and I press not iron. Perhaps it’s just the nature of the block? I’m using the Accuquilt die for this, and place fabric grain according to directions, but perhaps the Creative Grids ruler would be better? I plan to use scraps, so I’m sure it would be far less noticeable than the high contrast solid color of this one. Any suggestions for this block would greatly appreciated.

I have done this block using paper piecing and the result was wonderful!

Using a foundation does help match those seams/ points . I use lots of pins too. I tend to use foundation piecing for pineapple and log cabin blocks because a foundation keeps everything straight and square. It’s so easy to get a light curve when sewing many strips together.

A drop of elmers washable school glue is my go to when matching points is critical. Especially when joining blocks and rows.

I did this quilt into a king size quilt years ago. I still have this one here and I love it. I did not find it difficult to keep the points matching up. Hopefully I can upload the picture.

I also paper-pieced mine and didn't have any problems matching seams.

Paper piecing a pineapple block is one of the easiest ways to get everything matched up. That's the way I do mine. I did try the Creative Grids ruler, but didn't find that it was any easier or quicker than using paper.
