Golden touch & sew bobbin

New to the board hoping to learn about my new to me Singer touch & sew 620. I bought my touch & sew 620 for $25 a few weeks ago. Sewed just fine but now the bobbin is raising up from the bobbin casting. Can anyone help with what is wrong?

Welcome to the board. Sounds like you might have a bit of a thread nest/jam in the bobbin area. Could be just a tiny bit of thread stuck in there somewhere. Did you also get a manual for the machine. It might need a drop of oil in the bobbin race area as well?? Others will probably pop in soon with other suggestions as well.

Good luck.

Check the bobbin, are the little bumps that drive the bobbin worn down? There are replacement bobbins you can buy on the net.

I have a Singer Golden Touch and Sew model 750. When mine does that, I haven't clicked the little metal piece that holds the bobbin case down after I have finished cleaning under the bobbin.

Welcome to the QB from SE Michigan! Great to have you and love that you have jumped right in! Sometimes it could have the wrong size bobbin in it. So often if someone is changing out machines it would be easy to put in a wrong size bobbin. So check to make sure you have the right size bobbin. If that is alright check for treads caught up in the bobbin case.. Some models of the Touch & Sew machines were known to have problems with bobbins and bobbin casings. I do not know if your model is included in those models of course. All the shared info so far may be all you need.

I have and use this machine--it is a workhorse--love it ! One thing I do before loading bobbin is do a slight twist of bobbin like to open it, then screw back to position and load the bobbin with thread. Yes, need to check for any loose threads or tidbits in bobbin area. i do oil that area quite frequently--just a drop of oil. Not all bobbins fit correct. I have tried many places, sometime some from Ebay that work just fine. Be sure to run your finger around edge of bobbin, checking for any nicks or chips. Think I paid that price for my machine about 10 years ago and sew on it almost every day. Like that it is metal, hubs takes it out to his workshop once or twice a year and cleans and oils it. Love my machine ! Good Luck with yours !

I like that the singer 620 does a lot has many attachments. If I get to sew again that would be great but if not I also own 2 Husqvarna Vikings, heavy duty singer, brother serger and 2 vintage treadle sewing machines.
