My questions:

Where do you buy Glide, Bottomline, etc?
What's a good thread to use for fmq on my domestic Bernina? I'd like to get better at FMQ

I find thread quite confusing because there are so many. I use Aurifil, Bluprint, and Missouri Star- mostly 50 wt.

Bottomline I would order direct from Superior.

Glide I order direct from habdash because I have a resale cert and can place the minimum (I believe it is now up to $300 but because I order the magnaglide prewound bobbins in bulk it doesn't take long to get there, lasts forever though. SusieQOH, if I am thinking correctly you have a Bernina with a non-standard bobbin size. The problem I had trying to buy Glide locally was I could only find it on pre-wound bobbins and my 820 has an extra large proprietary sized bobbin that isn't L, M, or 15. To get the pricing on their website I had to fill in information first and I wasn't going to do that... so I got a cone of So Fine from Superior, I've been ordering directly from them for about 5 years now. First started buying prewound bobbins for my friend's machine which was M size and again, although I could find L and 15 locally, not many M. Personally, I grew to love prewound bobbins and while the Bernina is easy to wind a quality bobbin, if I had the embroidery module I would really want to be able to just buy a ton of bottom thread already wound.

My Aurifil thread I look when I am ordering things from Amazon if there are any sales going on, I seem to do pretty good that way. I have a price I'm willing to pay and so I wait for that.

For most of my thread, I either get it from the Superior Threads booth at a quilt show or I order it from them. Occasionally I buy a spool or two of Gutterman or Aurafil locally for a special purpose like appliqué or game t top stitching. I know I am in the minority, but I don’t like Glide. I do love the pre-wound bobbin thread from Superior - SuperBobs. I have three different color collections, and I use them most of the time (I have a HQ Sweet 16]. When I do quilt on my Viking, I have to wind my own bobbins. Luckily that only happens when I really have to get a small quilt done while traveling in the motorhome.

I use Metro embroidery thread for FMQ, use Connecting Threads Essentials for piecing.

Amazon has Superior thread. I like their thread for quilting.

I was at a class on free motion quilting and it was suggested to use silk thread. It is so much finer than any others it would not show as much if your quilting was not perfect. It would be very expensive. Red Rock threads online sells “InvisaFil” thread. Buy it online. It is 100 weight thread. I’m going to get a panel for a baby quilt and practice going around all the characters then quilting the rest. I have used this thread for stitch in the ditch and liked it fine

I have been getting it at Amazon right now just because it is easier than looking up old account information. IMHO Glide is one of the best quilting threads available. I use it for both stitching my blocks and for my quilting. I am guaranteed a great outcome.
