1941 petal issues
Hello, new here. Heed help with my petal that is working intermittently
|
Welcome, Is that the model or year of your machine?
They are called foot controller or foot pedal. There are some Youtube videos about repairing, some are better than others. The instructions for posting pictures on Quilting Board can be found at https://www.quiltingboard.com/attach...020-01-17-.pdf Janey - Neat people never make the exciting discoveries I do. |
Welcome to the Quilting Board, and I certainly hope you get your pedal issues under control. Sounds very much like it needs to be re-wired. If the machine is an old one, the wires probably need to be replaced completely.

1941 is the Model number. My husband took the foot petal apart and found a wiring issue. He cut the bad wire out and shortened it a bit. Now it works great again! I love this machine. My mom taught me how to sew on it.

How wonderful you got your problem fixed. I dropped the foot pedal of my vintage machine recently and really broke it! It had some sort of fancy bakelite or early plastic channel thing completely broken in half with springs now askew and an obvious electrical short.
It was a much more complicated device than I would have thought. Never thought much about foot pedals but not a simple lever, you have to have the push back component to it. On Monday I'll try contacting the shop I go to for my vintage stuff, I understand they are open by appointment/will meet in the back parking lot with masks over our faces like we are doing something much more suspicious than fixing an old machine :p |
