What Are the Hottest Trends?
What do you think are the hottest trends in quilting today? In fabrics? In patterns? In techniques?
|
Don't have a clue...but the hottest trend in my house is trying to use up all my scraps! LOL

Big Stitch Quilting seems to be in a revival mode. Am seeing more and more instructions and books on BSQ.

Quilting with rulers for me, love them!

I would say to check with the experts. You could check at the manufacturer of fabrics sites. They usually have free patterns for their lines of fabric to show how they are being used. Going modern is a simple way to make it timeless in design. I like the traditional look myself. A quick look at one of the magazines on the stands will help you to see what is in style as far as colors go.
It would be interesting to see what you come to believe as hot trends go. |
The, "Dream Big," quilts seem to be something new and trendy. At least to me they are.

The LQS just showed a new magnetic hoop for embroidery machines. There is a clamp system that allows you to slide the project into the next position. It will save time as you don’t have to totally re hoop. I sometimes re hoop a couple of times to get the exact placement spot I want. My hoop is on order.

Low volume fabrics and low volume quilts. All the new moms I get requested to made baby quilts for want light almost monochromatic color schemes without much contrast. Block patterns can be traditional, but the low volume pallets are the ones being requested.

Hmmm. I think color, pattern and scale are. Also, certain designers are big. Gray backgrounds are big. Solids are more important.
I like watching Jenny Doan's videos for ideas. They're quick and fun. |
rulers on the domestic machines; digital print fabric making the designs more detailed and colorful; modern quilt designs; facings instead of bindings on some quilts; virtual quilt shows and classes.
