Making precuts from stash
I would like to make precuts from my stash, but I'm not sure how to use odd sized pieces so as not to cut on the bias. Do any of you make your own precuts from your stash? Thanks!
I do, but from my larger scraps. I don't cut up yardage to make precuts.
I've made 2.5, 5, 2.5x5" from my scraps. These are the sizes I use most often. Too be honest, I don't worry about bias. They are small pieces, kinda.

Just like sewbizgirl, I cut down my larger scrap pieces, not yardage. I cut them into the sizes I use the most often.
I don't cut down anything until I need to use it. Afraid I'd cut the wrong size and couldn't get what I needed.
I cut my "scraps" into FQ's, 10",8",6" and down to 1 1/2", although I don't cut 5 1/2". The smaller cuts I use as leader and enders and have made at least 3 large lap size quilts from them. I don't worry about the bias, because I don't cut them on the bias.
No I even leave my scraps as is. I throw my scraps in a clothes basket and then cut them as I need.
I cut small pieces into 2-1/2" strips. I use lots of them. Large yardage I leave alone.
A quick way to cut them is to remove the needles and thread from a serger, put a piece of tape on the machine if you need to mark, say, 2 ", and just keep running them through your new "power strip cutter".
I don't make precuts from stash ,however, I do cut the scraps in various sizes like Bonnie Hunter suggests. I just cut some 2 1/2 strips and 5 inch squares with my accu quilt today.. It is a big job to keep up with these scraps. I wish I new where they all came from? I don't even remember some plains that I just cut. I hope i am not wasting my time. ??!!
